The Use of Mobile Assisted Language Learning on Students' Pronunciation

Abstrak

Pronunciation ability is one of elements of English that should be mastered by the students because the students are expected to be able to carry out conversation with others using correct pronunciation. Unfortunately, the students get difficulties in pronouncing words with correct stress and intonation. For that reason, they need an appropriate technique in learning English to help their pronunciation
ability. The aim of this research is to find the effect of using Mobile Assisted Language Learning on Students’ Pronunciation. The research was conducted to the second grades students of SMK. In conducting this research, the writer applied pre-experimental as the method with one group pre-test post-test design. The participants were given pre-test, three treatments and a post-test. Oral test is given to measure the students’ ability in pronunciation. The data are analyzed by using t-test formula. From calculating the data, she found the t-test value 14.11, meanwhile the t-table value is 2.069 at the significant level 0.5 with the degree of freedom (dƒ) 23. It is found that the t-calculated is higher than t-table (14.11>2.069). It means the value of t-table is lower than the t-test. So, it can be concluded that an
alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In other words, The Use of MobileAssisted Language Learning affects students’ pronunciation.
